There has been a lot of speculation around the Vikings and their cap situation ahead of the 2021 season. Although the salary cap hasn’t been made official yet, there has been speculation of several players getting cut due to the Vikings being over the cap.

Riley Reiff has been one of those names thrown around, even though he had one of his better seasons in 2020. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported on Thursday morning that the Vikings and Reiff have renegotiated the left tackle’s contract.

The Vikings’ front office added a $1 million signing bonus that makes up for an incentive Reiff lost due to sitting out the season finale on the COVID-19 list. The Wilf family has shown over the years that they are invested into this organization and want to bring a Super Bowl back to the state of Minnesota.

This nice gesture could help the Vikings in a big way, as they could potentially focus on other areas in the draft outside of the tackle position. A contract extension makes sense in this situation for both sides, but no move has been made at this time.
