Cain, Yelich return but Brewers still lose

The Milwaukee Brewers had their chances Monday night in their series opner at Philadelphia, but a lack of production when it counted doomed the Crew in their 4-3 loss.

Outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich both returned to the Milwaukee lineup and both produced. Cain’s tape-measure blast in the first staked Milwaukee to a quick 1-0 lead, while Yelich went 2-for-4 after missing 17 games with a nagging back issue.

Cain’s home run did not hold up for Milwaukee. Brewers starter Adrian Houser’s only real mistake happened early. J.T. Realmuto’s two-run home run gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead; a lead they would not relinquish.

Tuesday, the Brewers and Phillies will play game two of their series. Eric Lauer (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will pitch for Milwaukee, while Aaron Nola (2-1, 3.11 ERA) will go for Philadelphia.
