Tiger Woods Told Cops He Didn't Remember Driving Moments After Car Accident

When the first witness arrived at the scene of a car accident involving Tiger Woods, the golfer was unconscious and could not answer their questions. By the time police officers arrived, Tiger had regained consciousness but did not remember driving and had no idea how he crashed.

The new details were revealed in the affidavit the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Office filed to gain access to the vehicle's black box.

"The deputies asked him how the collision occurred. Driver said he did not know and did not even remember driving," the affidavit, which was obtained by CNN, read. "Driver was treated for his injuries at the hospital and was asked there again how the collision occurred. He repeated that he did not know and did not remember driving."

While authorities said Tiger Woods is not facing charges for the crash, investigators are still trying to piece together what happened. They are hoping the black box will shed some light on how fast Tiger was driving and what caused the one-car rollover crash.

"If somebody is involved in a traffic collision, we've got to reconstruct the traffic collision, if there was any reckless driving if somebody was on their cell phone or something like that," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Johann Schloegl told USA Today. "We determine if there was a crime. If there was no crime, we close out the case, and it was a regular traffic collision."

Woods suffered multiple fractures and compound fractures to his right leg and spent hours in surgery where doctors inserted a metal rod into his leg and used pins and screws to repair his shattered ankle. He remains hospitalized as he recovered from his injuries.
