Brewers come home with series win

The Milwaukee Brewers outlasted the Miami Marlins Sunday, 2-1, running their MLB-best Mother’s Day record to 34-20, and their season record to 19-16.

Tied 1-1 heading into the tenth inning and Pablo Reyes placed on second base, Miami walked Daniel Vogelbach, who had homered earlier in the game to get to Tyrone Taylor. Taylor promptly singled to left, scoring Reyes, giving Milwaukee a 2-1 lead.

“With that (Miami starter Sandy) Alcantara fastball at 99, it's tough to get around on it and has a lot of movement on it too,” Taylor told reporters via Zoom after the game. “So knowing that, and just sticking with my approach of trying to get a good pitch to hit and swinging strikes, man, I got one.”

Milwaukee’s Drew Rasmussen slammed the door on the Marlins, whose only run came on a solo shot by former Brewer Lewis Brinson, the centerpiece of the trade with Miami that brought Christian Yelich to the Brewers.

Milwaukee takes Monday off before beginning a series with St. Louis on Tuesday.
