LSU backup quarterback Colin Hurley was found unresponsive and hospitalized after being involved in a serious on-campus crash just before 3:00 a.m. on Thursday (January 16), ESPN's Chris Low reports.

Hurley, 17, was released from his Dodge Charger by EMS and fire department personnel and transported to a local hospital. The cause of the crash was not revealed publicly as of Friday (January 17) morning.

LSU school officials were unable to issue a public statement on the incident as Hurley is still a minor. The quarterback's family confirmed that he was "resting and is stable" in a statement obtained by ESPN on Thursday.

"Colin would like to thank the first responders, the incredible doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health and the many Tiger Fans for their care and compassion," the statement read. "Colin is resting and is stable while more tests and care are being administered. We are confident that Colin will make a full recovery from this terrible accident."

Hurley enrolled at LSU this past year and redshirted, signing with the Tigers after rating as a four-star prospect and ranking as the No. 25 quarterback, No. 49 player from the state of Florida and No. 357 overall prospect for the 2024 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, which tabulates rankings from itself and several other top recruiting websites.
